The Venus Treaty (Russian: Договор о Венере, Dogovor o Vyenyerye), formally known as the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activity of States in the Habitation of Venus, is an international treaty which establishes protocols related to human colonization on planet Venus. The treaty only relates to the "air, land, and sea" of Venus, effectively voiding the Outer Space Treaty in regards to the planet. The treaty was an ratified by the three great powers on Venus — China, the Soviet Union, and the United States — and came into effect in early 2000.
