abstract
| - On 13 September 2008 Rovers played host to Walsall in a League One match, in what was the sixth league game of the 2008-09 season, and the eighth game in all competitions. Going into this game Rovers had only won a single game so far in the season. First Team Coach Paul Trollope named an unchanged 16 from the previous match, a 5-4 defeat at the hands of Peterborough United. The poor form continued into this game, and Rovers ended up losing 3-1 to Walsall. This game also included the first red card for a Rovers player in 2008-09, when Byron Anthony was sent off for foul and abusive language in injury time at the end of the match, shortly after he conceded the penalty which gave Walsall their third goal.
