This set is notable for several reasons: * After the previous twelve sets (or thirteen, depending on how you count) were released by Rhino Entertainment, this set marked the first MST3K release from Shout! * This set is the thirteenth four-disc set of original episodes, but Shout opted not to label this set as "Volume 13". When numbering continued with the next set, it was dubbed Volume XIV, switching to Roman numerals. * The title of the sets was also changed, as Rhino's titling "The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection" was dropped. * The three-part "The History of MST3K" available as an extra in this set marked the first appearance of KTMA-era footage on DVD.
