- Queen Akasha (simply known as Akasha) is the very first vampire ever born. She is the main antagonist of the novel series The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice and its 2002 film adaptation Queen of the Damned. According to the novel series The Vampire Chronicles, Akasha is one of the two lost-long ancient vampires alongside her husband and king, Enkil who are called Those Who Must Be Kept. She was portrayed by the late recording artist/dancer/actress/model Aaliyah whose memory the movie itself was dedicated to upon 6 months of its premiere release after her death.

Akasha nace en Uruk hace más de 6000 años y es llevada a Kemet para casarse con el rey Enkil, quien necesitaba una esposa para acceder al trono debido a la política matriarcal que imperaba en Kemet. Debido a lo avanzado del pueblo del que procede Akasha lleva a Kemet la escritura y otras ciencias y a su vez trata de erradicar tradiciones como el canibalismo al que algunas tribus cercanas tenían como costumbre religiosa. Akasha ordenaba ejecutar severos castigos sobre quienes realizaban dicha práctica, lo que la hizo ser temida y odiada por las tribus que no querían seguir su camino de civilización.
