| - The Tenebrous Council is a collection (and the largest collection) of Shadowcasters on Darelth. It is a global conspiracy dedicated to helping the forces of Shadow achieve dominance over that of Light, in return for worldly power. The sigil of the Tenebrous Council consists of two downward-pointing black teardrops, whose backs touch each other, on a circular field of white. The Council proper consists of 12 councilors, plus a prime councilor. The 12 councilors are split 3 apiece between the organization's four branches - Research, Security, Operations, and Support. The prime councilor is nominated from the ranks of the organization, but can't be a councilor himself, nor can he have been a councilor. The members of the organization often migrate between the first three branches as their duties, inclinations or politics dictate. The Research Branch is dedicated to studying Shadow in all its forms, as well as conducting research into new forms and techniques of Shadow magic. The research branch maintains the diplomatic ties and alliances with the Shadow plane and the Khayal. The research branch colors the sigil's field blue. The Security Branch is dedicated to enforcing the Council's rules, securing the organization's bases, and conducting any offensive operations. The security branch colors the sigil's field red. The Operations Branch is dedicated to extending the organization's influence, and increasing Shadow's dominance on Darelth. The operations branch collects the intelligence needed by the organization. The operations branch colors the sigil's field gold. The Support Branch is dedicated to acquiring, providing, and maintaining the resources and materials needed by the organization.
