USS Hopping (DE-155/APD-51), a Buckley-class destroyer escort of the United States Navy, was named in honor of Lieutenant Commander Hallsted L. Hopping. Hopping was launched at the Norfolk Navy Yard, Portsmouth, Virginia, on 9 March 1943, sponsored by Mrs. H. L. Hopping, widow of Lieutenant Commander Hopping; and commissioned on 21 May 1943, with Lieutenant Commander F. D. Giambattista in command.
