HMS Conqueror was the ship that William Bush served on just prior to his assignment to HMS Renown. There have been nine historical ships named HMS Conqueror. At the time Lieutenant Bush reported aboard Renown, the previous Conqueror, a 74-gun third-rate was broken up in 1794, a bit early for Bush to have been paid off in 1800. The next Conqueror, also a 74, was laid down in 1801, a year later.
