  • The Invisible Bridge at the Charmbridge Academy experienced a catastrophic failure in September of 2007. The sudden disappearance of the Bridge occurred while sixth-graders Alexandra Quick and David Washington were attempting to cross, causing them to plummet toward the valley floor half-a-mile below. Quick and Washington were saved by a chance spell by Quick that enlarged her raven familiar enough that it could catch them both. Quick later discovered that the incident was the first of several deliberate attempts on her life by Charmbridge groundskeeper Ben Journey, who had been an associate of her father, Abraham Thorn and a member of the Thorn Circle.
