In 1975 at the aged of 77, Vera published her first novel The Green Knight. She followed this with King Arthur’s Daughter and The King’s Damosel completing an Arthurian trilogy, the last of which Warner Bros. bought the film rights to be used as the basis for a 1998 animated feature film Quest for Camelot. In 1998 The Enchantresses, her final Arthurian novel was published posthumously. Although the stories are retold from a feminist point of view, her Arthurian scholarship was always impeccable.
