  • The Verona was a restaurant about half way between Lt. Colin Ferguson's home and the San Atanasio Police HQ. It was a 1950s style Italian place with red-checked tablecloths and candles stuck in Chianti bottles. The menu was spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna and the like along with pizza from a wood-fired oven. About three and a half years after the Yellowstone Supervolcano eruption, Ferguson asked Sgt. Gabe Sanchez to lunch there. Sanchez was surprised at going so far from the cop shop but soon learned that Ferguson wanted a private place where other officers were unlikely to overhear them when he explained that he had learned from his son that the Police Chief's son, Darren Pitcavage, was dealing drugs. After talking it over, Sanchez suggested Ferguson take the information to Det. Rodney Ellis who hated dealers and wouldn't report back to Chief Pitcavage. Since Ferguson had also considered Ellis, this led him to work with the detective to set up a sting and arrest Darren.
