Bocşa was a city in East Bulgaria which is now a Class A-restricted settlement. During 1989 and 1990 Bocşa was in heavy opposition to the Ceausescu regime and to the Republican occupiers. On May 12 1990 the Republican Army and the DSR launched a terror attack on the town in which a nuclear weapon was deployed against the town. 16000 people died in the aftermath and soon the city was cordoned off and restricted. Nearby Resita was also abandoned (and designated Class-B restricted) and even as far as Belgrade people felt shocks from the explosion. All this was covered up by the government until 1997 when DSR agent Anton Filipov defected to Greece and revealed this to the press (Philippov was later found dead in his Athens apartment, some claim the DSR killed him).
