  • Mia "Howlrunner" Ikova, originally designated OS-233-12 but later OS-378-03, and went by the call sign Black Six and later Cloak Five for a bit, nicknamed, was a human female ace TIE pilot in the Imperial Navy, and earlier a model for various recruitment posters of the Imperial Ministry of Propaganda. Born on the planet of Kattada in 16 BBY, she was the daughter of Iliya Ikova, the planetary leader, and Arcen Ikova, the commander of the Kattadan Guard. Mia was considered to be very attractive, and gained a lot of unwanted attention. However, from a young age, she liked the idea of becoming a pilot. So in 1 ABY, she joined the Galactic Empire with the intent of attending an Imperial Academy. But, the Ministry of Propaganda decided to run a line of Imperial recruitment posters, and she was selected unwillingly to become a model for one of them. Afterwards, though, she was granted acceptance to the prestigious naval academy of Anaxes for her propaganda service. Mia graduated as one of the top cadets with the rank of ensign, but experienced prejudice because of the New Order's anti-female stance. However, Mia still became a skilled pilot serving in the 712th Imperial Fighter Wing. Because of that, she was selected for a test by Vader. She passed, and joined his Black Eight Squadron. In it, Mia met Lieutenant Marek Vaiken Stele, whom she fell in love with and later married. Mia and Marek often flew escort to Darth Vader's shuttle. During the late war, she was assigned to Emperor's Sword, the personal escort squadron of Palpatine. Following the Galactic Civil War climax, the deaths of Palpatine and Vader over Endor, she followed Marek's leadership. Mia retreated with Captain Pelleon, and served whom he did. She eventually fell under the leadership of Grand Admiral Thrawn, as Pelleon joined Thrawn's Confederacy. Mia fought for him at various planets, such as Sluis Van. She was later selected by Marek to join an elite guerrilla unit of pilots attacking vital New Republic targets called Storm Squadron. They went on to become known as the "Empire's Rogue Squadron". After his death at Bilbringi, Mia then received a call given to all Imperial fleets to go to the Deep Core planet of Byss, where reborn Palpatine was amassing his new forces. During the Operation Shadow Hand, Mia fought at several planets for his Dark Empire, part of the 378th Imperial Fighter Wing, against the New Republic. However, after the Emperor's final death in 12 ABY, Mia followed Marek and joined him in the Imperial Remnant, under Admiral Natasi Daala. She married him soon after. Mia fought later in the Yuuzhan Vong War, beginning in 25 ABY. When the Yuuzhan Vong were defeated, she fought against (and later with) the Corellian Confederation during the Second Galactic Civil War. Originally fighting along side the Galactic Alliance, Mia switched sides as Captain Pelleon did, and fought along side the Jedi. Eventually, her husband Marek became a Grand Admiral. Around the same time, she was appointed a Moff, leader of the Thuris sector. For her service, Mia was appointed a Grand Moff by 44 ABY.
