Not much is known about Max's early life except that he was born the brother of Adam Sage. The date of his birth is unknown as is his true age. At some point in history, after the Clone Wars, an unknown rogue jedi came upon a Max as a child. Although he was too young to remember he was often told that the man saved him from Jedi hunting inquisitors. The crazed Jedi took the boy as his apprentice and began to train him. After awhile the training began to get brutal. Max's master sought the strength to defeat the Sith and began to employ techniques learned from a strange pyramid holocron. Max was subjected to brutal tests and alchemical experiments. When he wasn't training the boy slept in the comfort of a cryogenic tube waking up to see an increasingly aging master throughout the process.
