The Charter of Privateering was a UNSC charter that, in essence, legalized a very limited category of Piracy. More specifically, it was an tightly controlled doctrine that allowed regulated private military contractors to supply small numbers of privateering vessels and infantry assets to the UNSC Defense Force provided that they pass through a complex inspection. The first major company to embrace the charter was Haverson Defense, which began its contract with the UNSC in late 2556, only months after the signing of the charter.
