In World Youth, Kisugi became a regular in the first round of the Asian preliminaries, since Hyuga and Nitta was forced to leave All Japan. Although he had played against Aoi in school, he didn't have any memories of him. In Road to 2002, Kisugi became a pro soccer player by joining Cerezo Osaka, a J-League club. Selected in the Japanese Olympic team, he only played for a bit in a friendly match against Denmark.
