Doctor Owen diagnosed Susan Barlow with acute appendicitis and rushed her to hospital in his own car. This followed her father, Ken's insistence on getting a second opinion, in July 1970 after Doctor Crawford diagnosed a mild tummy ache and accused mother Val of being over-concerned . The character was named Doctor Owen on screen but only credited as "Second Doctor" in TV Times.
