It is believed a direct order to fire was given, and the 25 soldiers manning the blockade opened fire with semi-automatic weapons, cutting down the lines of protesters. 19 of those killed were under 18, and one boy, Stephan Bein, was only 12 years old. A 70 year old man was also killed. There were no reported injuries to the soldiers. The massacre has prompted severe rioting in several towns and cities. The PRA and the KFA murdered at least 10 Imperial soldiers in retaliation.
