- When Jagex releases names, it is common practice for players to snipe names. Name sniping on multiple accounts has led to all offenders and their accounts being banned especially if real-world trading or employing the use of bots. [1]
- On aimed Called Shots with (accurate) sniper weapons, the weapon gains [Perception-Bonus] Penetration on each shot! If the weapon already has a Penetration Value in its profile, you can choose which Penetration Value you want to use.
- Sniping is a tactic used to kill an offline player quickly. It's used to prevent another player who is online already from getting that same kill. Sometimes you will check the stats page and see a kill you really want, only to notice that there's a player in the realm who can kill your target. They've been on for a minute or two, or more, but since they're alone in the realm, they haven't felt the need to rush in and get the kill yet. Possibly they need an equipment upgrade first, or they're looking for Olivia so they can get in High Spirits. Or they want to catch a fairy. Whatever the reason, the kill is still there, and you can try to snipe it if you have the nimbleness of mind and hand.
- Sniping is generally a skill used in woodsball and some scenario type games. Sniping involves blending with the enviroment and using stealth your advantage while shooting an opponent from a distance. If you are going to snipe, you should be provided with a long barrel (16-21"), a ghillie suit, a collapsable stock, and optionally, a bipod and red dot scope. Also, the Tiberius Arms First Strike round is a modified paintball that has stablizing fins.
- Sniping is the act of covertly eliminating targets from a concealed or distant position. Snipers often rely on stealth and nearby cover; sniping is rarely performed from an open or conspicuous location. The most popular sniping weapons are the Sniper Rifle and the Beam Rifle. They should not be confused with marksman rifles (such as the Covenant Carbine and the Battle rifle) which can also be used, though they are significantly less powerful and have a shorter range.

If you have the high ground you can shoot farther and expose less of yourself when you fire. Be careful if you use a tree. You want to make sure that you won't fall out of it if you get shot. It is also harder to move if you get in a tree because you will have to climb down first and will be very vunerable.

Sniping is an essential battlefield tactic in any form of combat. When correctly executed, sniping can inflict not only kills, but also a sense of demoralization and disarray among your enemy combatants. In The Art of War by Sun Tzu, it is stated that one must "attack an enemy when they are disorganized." Sniping can disorganize an enemy, and in a team game, this can make an attack much easier.

Tactically speaking, it has a dual advantage:
* you gain exp for the day, advancing yourself
* you also withhold exp from a competitor by preventing them from getting a kill, thus gaining ground against them specifically
