- Slayers began as a series of over 52 light novels authored by Hajime Kanzaka that ran from 1989-2008. It later encompassed a manga and five season anime, with the latest one being Slayers EVOLUTION-R that aired in 2009. The series is about a sorceress named Lina Inverse and her adventures while traveling with her party. Lina is not your typical hero, as she is rather narcisstic and hot-headed, valuing profit and prestige above anything else, but she does care about the fate of the world.
- Slayers is a high-fantasy continuum that began as a series of manga but has grown to include an anime series as well. The story follows sorceress Lina Inverse and her companions as they battle evil and save the world. There are just a few problems with this, among them being the fact that Lina is herself a greedy, self-centered little sorceress who finds herself in trouble with other people (notably her rather busty rival) just as often as in battle with the forces of darkness.
- While the series is generally billed as a comedy, each series has a larger, serious plot that puts many of the main characters in danger they must overcome, with each plot usually culminating in a battle that will decide the fate of the world.

- Slayers appear to be man-sized humanoids dressed in demonic looking plate armor. This armor is actually a bio-mechanical suit of eldritch design for the true form of the creature is a smallish squid-like creature. However, the armor is treated as an extension of the slayer and any hit on the armor causes damage to the creature. The body armor is slow and ponderous, always striking last in melee combat. For distance travel, slayers will often ride normal horses, though they always dismount to fight.
