Rahli and Wek went after the holocrons, but left Ioana behind in the Crimson Countess to make sure Vurb did not give the information to anyone else. She lingered when Breek Zagrev and Kyriel Jynx Windrunner were admitted to see Vurb, and was appalled when it emerged in conversation that the information had leaked to not one but two other potential buyers: Vurb himself had provided it to Evangelia Maxico, while one of his men had let it slip to Echepa'runam. Determined to prevent anyone else from interfering, Ioana moved to assassinate Vurb. She was prevented by Zagrev, and the two women got into a hand fight. Each landed several blows, and Breek pulled a zenji needle from Ioana's hair. But as Ioana pulled a blaster from a Cerean she had killed and took aim at Vurb, Breek telekinetically flung the fallen zenji needle into the back of Ioana's head. Even as she died from that injury, Vurb shot her twice in the chest.
