| - The Trident has high HP and wields a powerful Proton Cannon as well as an Electron Autocannon that is capable of hitting air targets. The Trident is decently fast, but unequipped to engage Submarines. The cheapest of all frigates, Trident Class can destroy all other frigates in a 1 vs 1 combat, due to a higher DPS than the other frigates. The Trident is a powerful asset to the Cybrans. Although it lacks a special ability such as Sonar Jamming or Anti-Torpedo, it is very useful nonetheless, particularly against hovering units such as the Aurora or Zthuee. It is, in fact the most effective unit in T1 at countering Aeon/Seraphim mobile light artillery. It can also serve to bombard targets near the shore and to engage other surface vessels. Since Cybrans cannot normally access mobile shields, or even hover units, they may find it necessary to employ floating decoys to absorb fire for more valuable naval units (cannon fodder) . Based purely on health points per mass cost (ignoring variables like anti missile, or anti-torpedo weapons , or any weapons for that matter) the lowly frigate is the most economical choice. In addition, as a large group of targets, rather than a single shield generator, frigates can induce overkill each time one dies. Cannon fodder are countered simply by micro managing one's targets and issuing orders to attack the more valuable targets, rather than leaving unit AI to pick the closest target.
