Gurubashi Catacombs led to modern arenas and greatly influenced how they are laid out. This was modeled after FPS deathmatch maps; 5v5, single elimination. It was originally very, very large and mutli-leveled; but players spent too much time searching for their opponents. It was, for this reason, never implemented.
