  • Mike Road (born March 18, 1918, though several sources state 1915, in Malden, Massachusetts) is a voice actor of cartoon characters and Warner Bros. television series contract player prominent for the character "Pearly Gates" on Maverick and whose career dates to the 1950s. Mike Road is best known as the voice of Race Bannon in Jonny Quest and was also the voice of Zandor in The Herculoids, "Ugh the giant caveman" on the Dino Boy cartoons of the Space Ghost series, and Reed Richards in The New Fantastic Four. He provided voices for a great many "guest-star" and incidental characters on these and other such programs during this time, as well. Road was also one of the Warner Brothers Television stock company and appeared in a variety of their programs, having been a regular on ABCs Surfside 6 as well as on The Roaring Twenties. He also portrayed Marshal Tom Sellers in the 1958-1959 ABC western series Buckskin co-starring Sally Brophy and Tom Nolan. Other in-front-of-the-camera work included two guest appearances on Maverick as Bart Maverick's rival "Pearly Gates," Lawman, Sea Hunt, I Dream of Jeannie and The Wild Wild West, as well as being one of the actors who portrayed Wyoming Sheriff Lom Trevors on the cult-following Western series Alias Smith and Jones. He retired from voice acting in 1981.
