California Pro Wrestling was a regional territory that existed from the 1960's to its closing in 1983. Run by promoter/wrestler Preston Holt, CPW served California, and possibly the South West region as a whole as one of the major American territories during the Regional Era. Aside from Holt himself, the other major star of the territory was Canadian wrestler "Whipper" Spencer Marks, who also found fame in his native Canada in the Canadian Wrestling Federation.

Aside from Holt himself, the other major star of the territory was Canadian wrestler "Whipper" Spencer Marks, who also found fame in his native Canada in the Canadian Wrestling Federation. The end of CPW came about when Richard Eisen's Supreme Wrestling Federation began a period of national expansion by signing away the top stars of each of the territories to exclusive contracts, and running shows in their own backyards, making the regional promotions look amateurish by comparison. Holt was unable to compete with the SWF on equal footing, and in June of 1983, California Pro Wrestling officially folded. Holt, however, would resurface as a booker nearly a decade later, running Rapid Pro Wrestling on the East Coast.
