- Mortals, also known as Sentients, are those who have the capability to form an arcane connection and become attuned to their power. Generally, they have the mental capacity to form civilizations.
- Mortals were created by Prometheus out of river clay. Prometheus was mad that his "babies" didn't know how to do anything. So one day he stole some fire from Olympus and gave it to some mortals.
- During Lost Odyssey nine playable characters are available to use. Of these nine, there are five mortals who accompany the Immortals on their journey to regain their memories. When these characters' HP is depleted, they will require assistance from another party member to rejoin battle. Healing items such as an Angel's Plume or the White Magic spell Resurrect can be used. Mortal characters learn skills by gaining levels and can make use of skills granted to them from accessories. However, unlike the Immortals, these cannot be learned permanently and will disappear once the accessories have been removed.
