He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft, 49th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played junior hockey for the Ottawa 67's from 1968 to 1970. He played in the Penguins minor system from 1970 to 1972 without making the NHL team. In 1972 Forey was chosen by the New York Islanders in the 1972 NHL Expansion Draft but never played for that team. The St. Louis Blues accquired him in 1973 and he finally got to play in the NHL. He played in four games with no points. He played most of his 1973-74 season for the Denver Spurs of the western League. That league suspended him for the balance of the 1973-74 season and all of the 1974-75 season for assaulting a referee. He played in six games for the Mohawk Valley Comets in 1974-75 and then retired.
