The 1982 Rose Bowl was played on January 1, 1982 as part of the 1981-82 NCAA Division I postseason. It pitted PCC Champion No. 5 San Diego against five-time Lakes champion No. 6 Ohio State. Ohio State would lose the Rose Bowl for the second consecutive year, failing to contain the vaunted San Diego rushing attack of James Goodard and Henry Tyles, and lacking many of its star defensive players from the previous two seasons. San Diego won the game 30-7.
