Sokan was a principle of lightsaber combat, rather than a true form. Developed by the ancient Jedi Knights during the Great Hyperspace War, Sokan teaching revolved around using the environment itself to gain a tactical advantage in combat.

La Técnica Sokan dirigía los rápidos golpes del sable láser, hacia las áreas vitales del oponente, junto con acrobacias y movimientos ágiles. Los combatientes hacían uso de amplias extensiones de terreno, para intentar llevar a sus oponentes a zonas más desfavorables durante el curso de las luchas que involucraban las técnicas Sokan. Aunque Obi-Wan Kenobi recibió entrenamiento Soresu, el Maestro Jedi utilizó elementos Sokan durante el duelo contra Anakin Skywalker (entonces Darth Vader) en Mustafar. Hacía el final de duelo, Obi-Wan buscó ganar altura en el terreno y usó su ventajosa posición para derrotar a Anakin, atacando sus puntos débiles.
