He played junior with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and the Seattle Thunderbirds from 1988 to 1991. The Minnesota North Stars chose him 155th overall in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. Barrault turned pro with the Kalamazoo Wings in 1991-92. He got into two games for the North Stars n 1992-93 and two more with the Florida Panthers in 1993-94. After that he spent his entire career in the International League. He was a defensive specialist and penalty killer. He retired in 1998.
