The TIE/Gravity or TIE/gr, was a TIE cockpit containing a small Gravity Well Generator. They were primarily used to stop small fighters from escaping into hyperspace. They were towed by another starfighter, and could reach places larger Interdictor Cruisers couldn't. They were the brainchild of Tan Kovoch Iktotchon, and based on one of Finir'Uno's older tactics, where a small Gravity Well projector would be placed on a Hyperspace route. By sending a TIE/gr in first, it made it easier that trying to second-guess your opponents position.

They were the brainchild of Tan Kovoch Iktotchon, and based on one of Finir'Uno's older tactics, where a small Gravity Well projector would be placed on a Hyperspace route. By sending a TIE/gr in first, it made it easier that trying to second-guess your opponents position. The TIE/gr's entire body was took up by the Projector. Thus, there was no room for any shielding without making it bigger and too much of a target. However, it contained a small explosive device, that triggered upon detachment from the towing fighter.
