- Aegis Shield is a Greek myth technology that is available to worshipers of Athena. It can be researched at the Military Academy or the Armory, and makes infantry units less vulnerable to pierce attacks.
- The Aegis Shield can be found in Saronia Catacombs, Sunken Cave and Lake Dohr and equipped by the Freelancer, Onion Knight, Red Mage, Knight, Dragoon and Viking. In the NES version, it provides +16 Defense, +25 Magic Defense, 17% Evade, and +5 Agility. In the 3D versions, it provides +16 Defense, +17 Magic Defense, +4 Mind, and protects from Confusion, Petrify, Sleep, Toad.
- Currently, pulling shield up doesn't interrupt reloading. Sticky and Anti-Vehicle grenades will not stick to a MAX unit that has their Aegis shield active.
- The shield drawn its power from any connected Allied artilery satellite. When erected, the satellite projects its energy directly to the Athena Cannon. The Athena cannon then erects a specially designed energy transmission device that will spread its energy to the designated area. The shield does not affect ground units, but will destroy any incoming projectile by its sheer heat and energy. As the satellite is using its entire capability transfering its energy, it cannot perform its primary function of shooting the enemies designated by Athena cannon.

Being a Shield, it can be equipped by Isaac, Felix, Garet, and Piers. The Aegis Shield increases the wearer's defense by 41 and his Critical Hit and Unleash rate by 10%. It can be bought for 6700 coins and sold for 5025 coins.
- The Aegis Shield was a military decoration and a campaign ribbon issued by the UNSC Defense Force to UNSC personnel who participated in the Second Battle of Earth in late 2552, resisting the Covenant and Brute occupation of the UNSC homeworld. The ribbon is an image of the Aegis, the indomitable shield of Athena and Zeus fashioned with Medusa's head that represents guardianship and honor.

The Aegis Shield is a valuable piece of equipment to obtain since there are no stronger Shields in the game that can be obtained without the aid of Sunshine. One pair of Gloves, the Riot Gloves, are essentially stronger versions of the Aegis Shield. However, since the Riot Gloves do not appear until late into the game, the Aegis Shield may see quite a bit of use.
