- Frank Coffey (b. ca. 1955) was a major in the United States Army who was assigned to the Admiral Peary as head of security for the American diplomatic delegation to Home. He stayed in Sitneff with Ambassador Sam Yeager and his aides. While there, he met Kassquit, the first Tosevite citizen of the Race's empire, and began a sexual relationship. Kassquit became pregnant and gave birth to a daughter, Julia Yendys, the first human born on Home. Coffey returned to Earth aboard the Commodore Perry--but only after informing the ship's commander, Lieutenant General Chesneau, that he would not do so if Sam Yeager were not permitted to do the same--but promised to return to Kassquit and their daughter soon.

He stayed in Sitneff with Ambassador Sam Yeager and his aides. While there, he met Kassquit, the first Tosevite citizen of the Race's empire, and began a sexual relationship. Kassquit became pregnant and gave birth to a daughter, Julia Yendys, the first human born on Home. Coffey returned to Earth aboard the Commodore Perry--but only after informing the ship's commander, Lieutenant General Chesneau, that he would not do so if Sam Yeager were not permitted to do the same--but promised to return to Kassquit and their daughter soon. Coffey was an African-American and as a boy and a young man had dealt with a certain amount of racism. Among the Race on Home, his skin color was not an issue, a change he found refreshing. Being chosen to travel aboard the Admiral Peary was the highlight of Coffey's life as it validated all he'd struggled to achieve in his career. Coffey had childhood memories of not being allowed to play outside during the Race-German War of 1965 because of radiation levels from the combatants' nuclear weapons. Though born a number of years after Kassquit, Coffey caught up to his lover in terms of age by spending less time in cold sleep than she did.
