Blimp Fruit is an item appearing exclusively in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are similar to the Bulb Berry and the Dash Pepper as all three transform Yoshi into a specific form. Blimp Fruits appear to be small light blue items with short stems on. This item transforms Yoshi into one of his forms, Blimp Yoshi and turns light blue. Yoshi can then float high into the air until running out of air, making him fall back to the ground. This form is similar to Balloon Mario. Like the Bee Mario form, there is a meter showing a limited amount of time Yoshi can float into the air. Yoshi can float into the air via using the A button.

If Yoshi eats it, he turns into Blimp Yoshi; he is automatically lifted into the air. Yoshi 's power runs out if he runs out of air, or if B is pressed. Yoshi can hold his breath and save air if A is held.
