  • The Zaluchi crime family is a criminal organization in Detroit that was formed by Joseph Zaluchi in the 1930s. They had a reputation for being one of the most peaceful families on the Commission, and their Don was widely liked by all members of the organization, including Vito Corleone, who was a long term ally. The Zaluchi family owned one of the horse-racing tracks in Detroit and also owned a good part of the gambling. In the forties, when drug trafficking became widespread across the United States, Don Zaluchi initially refused to yield, but eventually realised the least he could do was to ensure moderation. The family remained strong throughout the fifties and sixties until the death of Don Giuseppe.
