The hospital was established in the 1950s, alongside most of the other provisions provided by the city government. It's healthcare was partly funded by Umbrella Corporation in the 1970s and 1990s and it offered free healthcare to it's employees as well as residents in Lakeview. In 2003, during the outbreak, it was overrun by casualties and infected, before being completely swarmed by infected. During the outbreak, on the 9th of January, a Lakeview Police Department attempt to break through and recapture the hospital partly succeeded, even though the police were very soon trapped inside due to the amount of Zombies outside. Eventually, on the 17th of January, they escaped in an ambulance whilst the US Army destroyed whole sections of the hospital to rid the building of it's infestation.
