- The Tome of Magic (魔導書 Madōsho) is an Artifact from Legend of Mana. - They are similar to the also magic-based Animated Books on the occult floors, although those have more than health, and deal higher damage.
- Tomes of Magic are summoned by Lexicus Runewright during the fight with him. They, along with Tomes of Strength and Tomes of Ranged, only have 10 life points and if hit they will always die. However, they hit very hard for their level and are able to do so from a long range. When Lexicus summons them they will be at a random level, but their level does depend on Lexicus's level. The lower Lexicus is, the lower they are. They are similar to the also magic-based Animated Books on the occult floors, although those have more than health, and deal higher damage.
- The 2nd Edition Tome of Magic, published in 1991, was a book focused upon expanded options for members of the mage and cleric classes and their subclasses. It also introduced the concept of metamagic effects to D&D. The book was arranged in several sections, designed by David Cook, Nigel Findley, Anthony Herring, Christopher Kubasik, Carl Sargent, and Rick Swan. Cover art is by Jeff Easley, with interior illustrations by Stephen Fabian, Brom, Clyde Caldwell, Carol Heyer, John and Laura Lakey, and Roger Loveless.
