The AR200 has all the basic Artist features but unlike most models which proceeded it in the series, it was produced outside Japan. It features a mahogany body with a maple top with binding mated to a set-in maple neck with a 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include a fixed bridge and tailpiece and dual Ibanez Axis humbucking pickups with individual volume and tone controls. The AR200 was supplanted for 1999 by the AR250 which is similar except it has a flamed maple top.
