  • Prayer is a spiritual communion with a deity in the form of supplication, adoration, contrition or thanksgiving. Prayer presupposes a belief in the deity and its desire to hold a communication with the petitioner as well as a belief in the deity’s power to change things. Prayer can be an individual or group activity. Gestures such as folding hands, kneeling, bowing of the head and closing one’s eyes are often part of prayer, as they improve concentration and manifest a humble attitude towards the deity. Many will find a quiet place of worship better suited for prayer, but prayer can be uttered anywhere.
  • In ancient religions, people appeased the gods or made requests with sacrifices. Like most of the people practicing other religions around them, the early Jews made sacrifices. Over time there was a change to prayer and good deeds. (There are still some kinds of ritual sacrifice, such as fasting.) Prayer takes many forms: * talking to G-d * reciting ritual words * (add more later)
  • Prayer, invoked with the #pray extended command, is an action used to communicate with the player's god. The purpose of praying is to ask for help from your god, and as such, it must not be done too often. The player has a prayer timeout, a counter which is raised when praying, and decrements one turn at a time. Only when this counter reaches zero may the player pray safely again (exceptions exist, see below). Thus prayer is usually reserved for one of a few things: saving the player from almost certain doom, performing some action the player cannot yet do (removing cursed items, getting out of walls, etc.), or creating holy water. For those players who like a challenge, avoiding any interaction with gods, altars and other religious concepts in the game will satisfy the atheist conduct.
  • Direct targeted Light-characteristic heal spell. * Skill Cost: 1JP * Cast Time: Instant * Cool Time: 8s * This spell becomes more MP efficient at higher levels (it heals more per point of MP). * This spell has a +200% Threat modifier. • Prayer is a skill which grants the player specialised buffs in combat by evoking the power of certain gods. All players start with limited access to the Prayer skill. As one's Prayer level increases, they gain access to new prayers. The main way to train prayer is to bury certain types of bones.
  • There are two types of Prayer books: the "regular," default Prayer book, and the Curses Prayer book. Generally, the normal Prayer book is more useful to those with less than 70 Prayer, where all protection Prayers can be used at level 43 Prayer, while the Curse Prayer book requires a minimum level of 71 to use all protection Prayers. In spite of the high level requirement, the curse Prayer book has many powerful Prayers that can greatly benefit a character, such as Turmoil, Soulsplit, etc., and have many uses in Player versus Player (PvP) combat as well as Player versus Monster (PvM) combat.
  • Prayer is a skill that can be trained from buying bones at the general store in Skillz and burrying them. This skill is the second fastest to get to 99. • Prayers in ADOM are requests to the PC's deity for particular favors, also referred to by the game as divine intervention. Praying costs piety — meaning that the more the PC asks their god for favors, the more displeased that god will become; it is thus recommended to sacrifice regularly to the PC's deity to increase their happiness before asking them for favors. Asking for divine help should usually be done as a last resort anyway, if the PC is in a dire situation and there are no other means of getting him/her out of it.

  • Among most Western practitioners, prayer is to ask (or pretend to ask) that the laws of the Universe (or God/The gods) be suspended (or followed justly) on behalf of the petitioners or their loved ones. Prayer is really just doing nothing while still thinking you're helping the situation. Naturally, it doesn't work. Prayer is just as illogical as superstitious rituals such as sacrificing a goat, throwing Salt over one's shoulder, not stepping on cracks, etc. The only difference is that the majority of the World's population believes that prayer is effective.

Most prayers can be activated immediately before the attack hits and promptly deactivated in order to gain buffs and/or protection with minimal to no expenditure of prayer points. This is called Prayer flicking.

Prayer trenes ved å grave ned bein (bury bone), gjøre Prayergivende Quester som The Holy Grail, Pyre ships, offer eller brenning av ghast.
  • Prayer is a late-term symptom of Religion. it is one of the most accurate, non-medical means of determining whether or not a suspected person has been infected with Religion. To the mind of the person thusly affected, it is a method of forming unilateral, religious-themed contracts with a deity. These bargains typically take the form of, "if you do X, I will start doing Y again," "if you stop all of those X's from tearing my family apart on this camping trip, I will stop inappropriately touching Y," or, "please help me stop doing Y to all of these beautiful, angel-faced X's before the cops catch me." The most common form of Prayer in the United States is the "Hail Mary." This is usually employed in the last five minutes of a football game and seems to involve the worship of some sort of ph

  • Prayer is a skill in RuneScape Classic where the player turns on "prayers" to aid them in combat. In the very early days of RuneScape Classic, Prayer was divided into 2 parts: PrayGood and PrayEvil. However, the two skills were merged into "prayer" and the experience from the type of prayer with the highest experience was kept. The skill with the lower amount of experience was discarded. Prayer is a part of combat, by increasing attack, defense, and strength temporarily. It is also factored into your combat level.

File:Prayer active.gif The main free-to-play ways to train prayer are to bury bones and scatter demonic ashes. However, for RuneScape members, using bones or ashes on a gilded altar in a player-owned house's Chapel is more efficient. For wealthier members, reinforced dragon bones are a quick and easy way to reach level 99 Prayer, while semi-prosperous players can still level up with dragon bones. Bones can be obtained by killing various creatures, by taking bone drops that other players leave behind, or by collecting the bones that spawn in various places, such as in parts of the Edgeville Dungeon or at the Chaos Temple in the southern

  • A prayer is a personal religious ritual performed mostly for private and public communications with a deity or greater being. Depending on the religion, a person can take a variety of physical positions that indicate submission unto the one he or she is praying to: standing up with their head bowed, kneeling, or with their body and face flat to the ground. In Christianity, prayer is recommended for one's growth in their personal faith, though there is no set time for people to engage in prayer, as the Scripture says for believers to "pray without ceasing". A model prayer is one taught by Jesus in Matthew 6:9-13 that is commonly called "the Lord's Prayer".
