Wolverine was a mutant whose primary ability was an accelerated healing factor that enabled him to regenerate damaged or destroyed bodily tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Wolverine's healing factor may have greatly retarded his aging.Born in Canada sometime in 1832, James Howlett's mutant powers first manifested in 1845 during a moment of wild rage, after witnessing the death of his father at the hands of Thomas Logan. Grief-stricken, James impaled Thomas with his newly sprung bone claws; in his last moments, Thomas revealed that he was James' biological father. Fleeing with his half-brother Victor, the two spent the next several decades operating as soldiers. They fought together for the Union in the American Civil War.
World War II

During World War II, James Howlett was part of a strike team The Invaders unit,to stop the evil Hydra organization from taking over by destroying various Hydra bases. He fought alongside Captain America and Bucky Barnes. During their process, James, his best freind Victor Creed, Bucky and Cap went to one of the secret Hydra Base to go rescue an American scientist that was captured by H.Y.D.R.A. Once they got their, it turned out is was a trap for Hydra scientist to conduct experiments on the three. James, Victor and Cap managed to escape the base but came back with The Invaders this time to destroy the base, but loses a member of the team along the way. James and the allies later won WWII.
the Symkaria war
Sometime during the 1980's, James served with the U.S. Army to take down a soviet red skull during the Symkaria war.
joining the Alpha Flight
Months later after the Symkaria war, in Canada, former Marines James Howlett and his Best friend Victor Creed were recruited by Col. William Stryker to join a top secret black ops team called The Alpha Flight sponsored by the Canadian Government which consisted some fellow Marines who were given special Super Soldier powers after an volunteered experimental surgery and were labeled as Mutants, their names was Wade Wilson, Agent-Zero, Mystique, John Wraith and Domino.
They reformed on several missions, one mission is to apprehend a hostage situation in La Citadel in Quebec City and the governor general was held prisoner in the building full of superhuman terrorists. After the team apprehended the terrorists and saved innocent lives including the Governor,But Howlett learns of his own government are trying to re-crate their own super soldier serum by using wounded marine soldiers as test subjects . They did experiments on them and the process were slowly killing them while looking horribly disfigured. James quits the team, not wanting to be working for a wronged government.

Wolverine can also use his keen sense of smell to detect lies due to chemical changes within a person's scent.
*Superhuman Strength: Wolverine's healing factor enables him to lift more weight then the finest human athlete. That, coupled by having 100 pounds of Adamantium bonded to his skeleton, granting him some degree of superhuman strength.
*Superhuman Stamina: Wolverine has greater stamina then any normal human being meaning he can preform physical activities for an extended period.
*Superhuman Agility: Wolverine's natural agility, balance and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
*Superhuman Reflexes: Wolverine's reaction time is enhanced to a level that is beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
Adamantium Laced Skeletal Structure: Wolverine's entire skeleton has been infused with a rare, artificially created alloy known as Adamantium. As a result, Wolverine's bones have been rendered highly resistant to all forms of physical damage.
Retractable Claws: Housed within Wolverine's forearms are retractable claws that he is capable of releasing through the flesh between his knuckles at will. The claws rip through the flesh, tearing holes that are almost instantly healed by his healing factor.
