Walt Sprague ( - August 24, 1951) is a former NASCAR driver from Wellsville, NY. He competed in eight Nextel Cup Series events in his career, earning three top tens All of those races came in 1951, when Sprague debuted at Hillsboro. Starting 10th in the field, Sprague fell out early with overheating woes and finished 25th. Sprague spent the rest of the season up and down. He would only record four top-20 finishes. But those were spectacular: a trio of sevenths at Phoenix, Martinsville and Dayton and then an 11th place effort. Sprague would have competed more, but was tragically killed a few days after finishing 21st at Toledo.
