The weapon was designed around a gold-colored shaft roughly 3.7 meters in length, though particularly tall Garjo could design even larger ones. The business end had a long, curved cutting blade on one side and a shorter impaling blade on the other. At the end of the shaft was the muzzle of the rifle, which fired bursts of purple laser energy when triggered. Garjo trained to transition seamlessly from melee to ranged combat and back. The rifle had a squeeze trigger on the bottom half of the shaft, and was customarily fired with a stabbing motion. Though it did not have a shoulder stock, it had very little recoil, and could be aimed from a prone position as well. The Garjo had more typical blaster rifles and a variety of other weapons, but the halberd rifle was considered the species's archetypal weapon and mastery of its use was highly respected by the Garjo themselves. Breaking one's own halberd rifle was a sign of total submission and surrender, a rare practice among the Garjo.
