The Tilburg Trappers were Dutch champions in a large part due to the talent of their Czechoslovak exiles who arrived after the 1968 Prague Spring. The players competed under assumed names to avoid attracting the attention of the Czechoslovak authorities. Defenceman Jiri Peternousek (aka George Peeters) was the best of the three. His fellow countryman, Jaroslav Tuma, assumed the alias of Jerry Toemen. Another player, Vaclav Tuma, who arrived a year later, was denoted as "W. Toemen" in official statistics. Rotterdam, which has no indoor rink, lost three of their four home matches on forfeit because it was unable to organize them.
