When Mel Morton and friend Abi Sharpe left Milk Bar where they'd been celebrating the end of Mel's police training in September 2008, the pair witnessed three Girls who were in the throes of an argument with renowned troublemaker Charelle Glover. The argument soon escalated and, despite Abi's warnings, Mel waded in to break up the fight. Abi phoned for police assistance and upon realising that Mel and Abi themselves were off-duty police officers, Charelle set about attacking Abi with a glass bottle as the three other girls were still throwing kicks and punches.
