The Coruscant Cubs was a Galactic Republic, Galactic Empire, Alliance to Restore the Republic, and New Republic professional Hitball team based on Coruscant. They were members of the Sector League A of Professional League Hitball's Galactic League. They were one of two Professional League teams based on Coruscant (the other being the Coruscant Aelids). The Cubs were also one of the two original members of the Galactic League (the other being the Alderaan Acklays) which survived by the time of the New Republic's transition into the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. From 142 BBY, when the team was founded, to 25 ABY, the Cubs' home ballpark was Wrugiley Park, named after the Cubs' founder and first owner, Wil Wrugiley.

The Cubs were also one of the two original members of the Galactic League (the other being the Alderaan Acklays) which survived by the time of the New Republic's transition into the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. From 142 BBY, when the team was founded, to 25 ABY, the Cubs' home ballpark was Wrugiley Park, named after the Cubs' founder and first owner, Wil Wrugiley. The Cubs won the Galactic Series 86 times, more championships than any other professional sports team. They were also known as "The Northern Guys" because Wrugiley Park, their home field since 142 BBY, was located in Coruscant's northern hemisphere Lake View community at 8060248 West Republic Lane North. The Cubs had major rivalries with the Camildrona Rancors, the Naboo Clodhoppers, the Alderaan Acklays (Later the New Alderaan Acklays, moved because of the destruction of Alderaan in 0 BBY), and the cross-planet Aelids. The club played its first games in 143 BBY and was founded professionally the next year. This makes it, along with the Acklays who were also founded in 142 BBY, one of the two oldest teams in professional galactic sports. Because the Cubs lost half a season to the Battle of Coruscant in 19 BBY, the Acklays have played more seasons, although the Cubs hold the record for oldest team still based on its original planet.
