Topanga Canyon was a pass running through the Santa Monica Mountains, on the fringe of Los Angeles County. Originally the canyon was a footpath for Native Americans, but later a highway, also known as Topanga Canyon, was constructed through the pass. The highway turned off the Pacific Coast Highway, leading through the hamlet of Topanga into the heart of the San Fernando Valley.
