(TNG: "Skin of Evil" ) The name of the sector was only heard in dialogue, and the word "zed" has at least once been used in dialogue to talk about the letter Z in a designation, in the Surplus Depot Z15. However, the mention of the Zed Lapis Sector Spaceport in an okudagram in "Inheritance" suggests that in this case, Zed does not stand for the letter Z. At one point in the script, Vagra was said to be in the Zed Lapis system (the sector is also named elsewhere in the script). "System" was changed in "sector" for the filmed episode.
