The Peliar Zel escort vessel was an unidentified vessel used by a radical faction based on the Beta moon of Peliar Zel. In 2368, this "escort vessel" emerged from the limb of the Beta moon following the launch of a shuttle from the USS Enterprise-D transporting Ambassador Odan claiming to be an escort vessel. However, at the time, there was no mention of an escort, and when it was requested to the escort to process a security clearance code, they ignored the message and loaded its forward phaser banks and attacks the shuttle. As a result, the Federation shuttle lost its port thruster and both back-up stabilizers, forcing the shuttle to return to the Enterprise-D. (TNG: "The Host" )
