The unnamed Waitress served David Platt and his children in the Dock View Lodge Hotel in Liverpool where she complemented Max Turner on his manners, commending him to David. He replied that the boy had his moments but the lady told him of some children she served who made it look like feeding time at the zoo and used language that would "make a navvy blush".
