abstract
  • The Dorvain General Election, 1822 was held on the 27th May 1822 to elect the Seventh Parliament of the Commonwealth of Dorvain. Each of the 100 parliamentary constituencies elected one Member of Parliament to Parliament. The election saw a reversal of the progress the Royalists made. Following William Windsor's death in 1820, Harrison Weld took over the party. His leadership was criticized even by his own party. Meanwhile Democratic leader Bernard Clegg was popular with some of the elite for his pragmatism and strong leadership. As such in a reversal of the previous election, many former Royalists cast their vote for Clegg's Democrats. However due to the electoral system being rigged in favour of the Royalists, the Democrats were unable to win.
