Emmanuel Domingo y Sol was born on April 1, 1836 in Tortosa, Tarragona, Spain and died on January 25, 1909. He was the founder of the Pontifical Spanish College in Rome. As a young priest he built a sports arena and theater to provide a Christian place for youth to play sports and to act. Pope John Paul II beatified Emmanuel Domingo y Sol on March 29, 1987.
